Each year, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program visits selected schools to capture their stories. Produced as videos since 2009, these school profiles feature the voices and images of principals, teachers, students, parents, and community members as they offer first-person perspectives on what they have created together. Written profiles of schools visited before 2009 appear on the USDE website.
While every National Blue Ribbon School has many stories to tell, these profiles highlight a specific theme, practice, concept, or belief that is a key factor in the school’s success. In addition to transcripts, the videos are accompanied by brief school profiles, school contact information, and links to the school’s website and National Blue Ribbon Schools application. Videos may be viewed according to school level: elementary, middle, or high school, or by year: 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009.
The Progress blog of the U.S. Department of Education has also taken advantage of this wealth of educator expertise in a series of blog posts (many with embedded video). See a list of Progress blog posts about National Blue Ribbon Schools.
We urge you to contact these and other National Blue Ribbon Schools to learn what great American schools are doing.
